More than a philosophy ...
At Kessler’s Mountain Lodge we have the privilege to live and work amidst unique natural landscapes. That’s why we and our team attach great importance to the protection of nature. This commitment influences our daily work routine, as we want to be a good example.
At Kessler’s we promote regional economic circuits and the cooperation between agriculture and tourism. Local tradition and the enrvironment are to be protected, and we want to guarantee a bright future also for the next generations.
Therefore, we’re even more happy to announce that our Kessler’s Mountain Lodge has been awarded the GSTC® certificate and the Sustainability Label South Tyrol by IDM. This is another important milestone for us in making our contribution to sustainable tourism.
Sustainability Label South Tyrol
The Sustainability Label South Tyrol by IDM is based on the GSTC criteria and takes into account the conditions of South Tyrol. The criteria are divided into 4 areas: management, socio-economy, culture, and ecology. We’re especially proud that our Kessler’s Mountain Lodge has been awarded the highest level, i.e. Level 3, which is equivalent to the globally recognised GSTC standard.
Regional products
We buy regional products in order to support traders, farmers, and craftsmen in the surroundings. We promote cooperation between the catering industry and agriculture, process the valuable products from our farm, or buy the food we use from the immediate vicinity.
Local materials
Sustainability was the main concept for the custruction of our lodges. Local larch wood from just a few kilometres away was used for the exterior façade, for the cladding, and the roof construction, but also for windows, doors, and interior staircases. The craft businesses involved were all from the local area. The thermal insulation was optimised in order to obtain the KlimaHaus Class A Nature certificate.
We’ve also given plenty of space to native flora when planting our garden. There are a variety of native trees and flowers as well as an herb garden to preserve biodiversity.
Less energy consumption
We use green electricity from the Brixen public utility companies and LEDs in every room ensure lower electricity consumption for lighting. Thanks to the CO2 footprint, we monitor, manage, and reduce our overall energy consumption.
Renewable energy and less emissions
We at Kessler’s Mountain Lodge also attach great importance to renewable energies. Our guests can therefore charge their electric cars directly at our hotel.
All those who choose not to use their car at all on holiday and travel by public transport can look forward to a 5% discount on their stay if they book directly. Please tell us at reception.
Environment-friendly cleaning products
When cleaning our lodges, we use cleaning agents that are not only effective, but above all harmless to people and the environment. For this reason, we mainly use products that are Ecolabel certified. For environmental reasons, we also avoid daily cleaning, but are happy to offer you a flexible cleaning service based on your needs.
Natural cosmetic products
We at Kessler’s Mountain Lodge use the Natural Remedies beauty products by the South Tyrolean brand Prima, which help to regenerate the skin thanks to the beneficial properties of natural ingredients. Their soothing and nourishing effect is achieved thanks to organic extracts of nettle, sage, and blackcurrant. The carefully balanced formula and natural ingredients are a tribute to the diverse natural resources and invite you to live in harmony with nature.
Community, traditions, and customs
At Kessler’s we’re deeply integrated into the local village life, are members of numerous associations, and actively support them. We embrace South Tyrolean traditions and honour the special features of our village. We’re proud of our history and want to pass on our values, culture, and traditions not only to our children, but also to our guests.
Colleagues
Our team helps us to fulfil our promise of quality to our guests and to constantly improve. Our employees are particularly important to us and we take concrete measures to be an attractive employer. We offer various benefits and a familiar working atmosphere in which our employees can actively contribute and develop.
Fighting against food waste
Millions of tonnes of edible food are thrown away every year. To prevent this, we’ve set up a food exchange corner. Guests leave their leftovers there so that the next person can enjoy them. We also make sure that the quantities of food we process are in line with consumption, so that as little as possible is discarded.
Together we can do great things
Would you like to do something to help the environment during your stay? We’d be happy if you do, because it’s the little things that – when summed up – make the real change. Here you find some concrete examples:
- Bring your own slippers from home.
- Be careful not to waste water.
- In the sauna, use towels sparingly.
- Take advantage of our flexible cleaning service and ask us to change your towels and bed linen only when necessary.
- Open the windows of your chalet or apartment briefly in the morning and then avoid leaving them open all day to reduce excessive heating.
- In South Tyrol, we can enjoy first-class water from the tap. Please avoid buying plastic water bottles.
- Let us know if there are products in the breakfast basket that you don’t need. By doing so, we avoid wasting food.
- Travel by public transport and get an exclusive 5% discount on your stay.
